Family Day 2012

Hard to believe it's been FOUR years since Eli came home to us. I still remember that day, like it was yesterday! His foster family sent an album home with him and we have been looking at it with him frequently....The questions he asks aren't the ones we have been anticipating! He will tell you that he was born in Korea and understands that he was taken care of by another family until he was big enough and it was time to come home. He is starting to understand that Family Day is "special day" and that it is something to get excited about and celebrate...we can keep it that simple for now :)

Got thumb?

We've been talking to Eli for a while now about his thumb sucking. He decided that he would stop when he turns 5. Ok by us...but then he started talking about wanting to chew bubble gum, which we agreed would be allowed when he turned 5...Well, the light bulb went on over Randy's head and he came up with the idea that if Eli could stop sucking his thumb now, he could have bubble gum now. (He turns 5 in April, so it's just a few months early!) Eli loved the idea and said he could go 30 days with no thumbie...we talked him down to 15 days and made a calendar...and...BAM! SUCCESS.....Go Eli!!!!
Then Joel stated joking around and pretending to suck his thumb too ;) Thankfully those shenanigans only lasted a day and he realized he's not a thumb sucker, but a master Diego floor puzzle solver!

Happy 20-12

Just a few pics as we head into the New Year...
The boys are doing great and are ready to head back to school after a fantastic winter break. Both boys had a chance to have a sleepover with Momo & Pops, which was a special treat. They had a little one on one with the Grandparents and with us! Eli went to see Chipwrecked and Joel had a pizza picnic at home. Much of the break was spent in PJ's playing with toys and games. Another highlight was watching Peter Pan. Now both boys have visions of mermaids, flying and Captain Hook in their heads...good times!
